New research* suggests that our sweat may help to diagnose whether we have atopic dermatitis or eczema. Scientists in the UK have sampled sweat from a number of individuals and analyzed its content. This research indicates that the amino acid (AA) content of sweat from healthy individuals bears a remarkable similarity to the AA composition of a protein called Profilaggrin. Normal skin contains a variety of amino acids to help create a normal skin barrier and maintain its health. The presence of these AAs is largely due to the work of the Profilaggrin protein. | . |
