There is no question that focal hyperhidrosis negatively effects quality of life. The condition interferes with many psychological aspects of life including social, professional, and close personal relationships. While several scales have been developed to capture the impact of hyperhidrosis on individuals' lives, the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) is used across a number of skin conditions (over 40) including hyperhidrosis.
The DLQI has been extensively used (in over 80 countries / 90 languages) and is regarded as the most established instrument for measuring life quality impairment associated with hyperhidrosis. It is the most widely used instrument, often utilized by medical specialists such as dermatologists. It has been used in over 1000 published medical studies.
