Success Stories - Patients with HyperhidrosisMany patients have consulted me over the years, asking about whether a treatment exists for excessive perspiration. People were often mislead thinking there were no products that could ease this problem. Many had tried a variety of antiperspirants without success. Many were bothered to an extent that their condition often interfered with their normal activities, whether they were at home, dating, at a party, at the restaurant or at work. I used to recommend commercially available products that, all to often, were not tolerated or not strong enough. Unfortunately these products are made with a strong alcohol solution and can be irritating to the skin. In addition, although these products are quite effective under normal circumstances, they lacked the potency required for many of my patients with more severe sweating conditions. |
To help these frustrated patients, I began searching for alternatives that would be more effective and better tolerated. I found that the same effective ingredient found in many anti-perspirants could be compounded in higher concentrations as long as it was accompanied by an additional ingredient that helps increase its absorption. Also, incorporating these ingredients in an emollient gel base (as opposed to an alcohol solution) caused significantly less skin irritation.
After compounding several of these higher strength formulations, I began offering them to my more difficult-to-treat patients. The results were amazing! These patients had found relief and comfort thanks to a preparation that I eventually called ‘DryDerm’. I hope you try it for yourself and experience the comfort that many people now feel . Although a few patients have had to complement their therapy with other alternative treatments, almost all have found relief and comfort with a weekly (or bi-weekly) application of DryDerm.
