A Few Words About Gustatory Sweating Most of the people that I come across through this site are individuals that have excessive sweating problems in regions such as the underarms, feet and hands. Some folks have a similar problem but the excessive sweating is localized in the face, scalp and neck areas. And, the sweat outbreaks are typically brought on by ingesting foods, some foods being worse than others. I call these the 'culprit' foods. Turns out these culprits are often foods like cheese, chocolate, spicy foods - of course it has to be the good stuff! | |
We refer to this condition as 'gustatory sweating or hyperhidrosis'. Individuals with diabetes are particularly prone to this sweating problem. This condition can be just as troublesome as the more conventional oversweating problems. Imagine having a business lunch and all of a sudden breaking into a 'facial flood'. To make things worse, gustatory sweating can be somewhat unpredictable, even smells can make an individual break into a facial sweat. |
Some people have specific sweating patterns which can be limited to the face, or face and neck, or face and scalp or just scalp or face alone - you get the picture. And so out come the paper towels in attempts to pat away the excess on one's face and neck. Having said this, the problem can take on a whole new perspective if the scalp is involved. If the sweating is limited to the scalp you might think the problem can be 'tucked' away beneath the hair. Unfortunately the problem often worsens to the point where your hair actually gets wet. So much for the paper towels giving you that new refreshed look. If you are experiencing this sort of problem you may want to try treating your scalp (and other neighboring areas for that matter) with a solution that gets passed the hairy areas and right to the scalp where it is needed. Feel free to explore our DryDerm Solution page for more information. It may just be what you have been looking for, if scalp sweating is a problem you have been dealing with.
